Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana – Updated List of Authorised Banks to Open an Account, Specimen Application Form & Passbook March 16, 2015 by

RBI on March 11 issued a Circular to the authorised commercial banks to start observing the rules and regulations of Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana as per the Government of India Notification dated December 2, 2014. This circular has been marked to the Chairman & Managing Directors (CMDs) and Managing Directors (MDs) of some of the commercial banks operating in India.
These banks include most of the public sector banks, including State Bank of India (SBI), Bank of Baroda (BoB) and Punjab National Bank (PNB) and a few private sector banks also, including Axis Bank and ICICI Bank.
RBI has instructed these banks to approach Central Account Section, Reserve Bank of India, Nagpur for necessary arrangements to report Sukanya Samriddhi Account transactions with immediate effect. I think it means the RBI wants these banks to start opening accounts under this scheme without any further delays and the subscribers will not have to wait more to open their accounts. They can now approach these authorised banks to open an account.
Though it is still not clear if only these banks would act as the agency banks to open accounts under this scheme or some other banks would also join in, but it seems the following 28 banks would definitely be among all those banks authorised to open Sukanya Samriddhi Accounts (SSA).

RBI also issued a specimen of application form and the passbook for opening an account under this scheme. Unlike the post office application form, this application form would be applicable just for this scheme only.

From 16/5/2015 all SBI branches which operate PPF a/c starts opening SSY a/c.in this issue I sent email to general manager of SBI dated 27/4/2015 and his reply came dated 16/5/2015 as above. So,please contact to SBI.

Yes, it is perfectly fine to get this account transferred from a post office to a nationalised bank.

Hi Mr. Arvind,
You need to get in touch with the municipal authorities to check whether they would issue you the birth certificate for your daughter or not. As per the terms of this scheme, birth certificate is mandatory. But, you can check for alternatives in your case.

Have you tried PNB or IDBI Bank? I have checked with them, they have started opening these accounts. Please try, if you have not yet.
Is online transfer facility available in IDBI bank?I checked PNB they told me i can deposit amount only in their branch and no online mode supported.
Not sure whether online transfer facility is provided by IDBI Bank or not. I think even PNB would provide it after some time.

1. Post offices do not provide online transfer facility. So, you’ll have to visit post office each time you want to deposit money.
2. PNB & IDBI Bank have started opening these accounts. You can visit these banks in order to get your account opened.

I have been informed that post offices are assisting adequately in opening these accounts.
I just deposited the form in IDBI Kirti Nagar with Rs 2000.
The bank was saying that I can deposit the amount only once during the year. I think that is not true and the rules will be same as that of PPF.
I even contacted PNB at customer care no. of delhi(from their website) and they also said I can visit any PNB branch for opening and should talk to manager if the lower staff is not aware.

I approached Bank of India Safdarjung Enclave Delhi branch they say they are not aware of any such account ? Are all braches of bank of india not giving this ? How or where from i can get this verified?

You may approach PNB or IDBI Bank for getting this account opened. You need to check with BoI customer care to confirm whether BoI, Safdarjung Enclave is authorised to open these accounts or not.
BOI R.T.Road br.Nagpur,not ready to open SSY a/c.Pl suggest.
Please wait for a few more days for the bank to start opening these account.
Can you please let me know which sbi or icici branch in bangalore is opening SSA account. I am waiting for this to start in any bank. Nobody hase started to open excep POs.

I do not have the list of SBI/ICICI bank branches which are opening these accounts. PNB has started opening these accounts, you can check with them at the nearest PNB branch.

No Shilpa, post offices do not provide online transfer facility.
